The apartment on Varese Street in Como (Italy)
The apartment is located on Varese Street in Como (Italy). The apartment is 75 sq.m and located on the 4th floor of the building. The windows overlook one side and offer a magnificent view of the yellow-red tiles roofs of the houses in the historic center of the city.
The apartment has two rooms (a living room and a bedroom), a kitchen, a hallway and a bathroom with a shower.
The owners used the apartment exclusively for rent. By the look of it, the last renovation was done 25-30 years ago. Therefore, the task was not an easy one. NOT to do it from scratch, but to RENOVATE it, which is always harder.
My client is a beautiful woman in her 50s, who lives most of the time in California and rents this apartment on a long-term. She gave me a small budget for all the work and purchases, and also allocated 2-3 months for all the work while she was in California.

The purple walls became the basis for my living room. Next came the sofa, which I ordered to be reupholstered in orange fabric, since it was originally in blue leather and reminded me of an office. The chests of drawers were a dull green-gray color and had a tired look, I also took a chance to paint them purple and bought new mother-of-pearl handles with gold edging to give them novelty and elegance. I ordered new curtains in a small store in the center of Como. I wanted to emphasize the grace of Italy and chose dark purple velor with orange suspensions on the sides (like the sofa) – I love details. The table under the window – is LOVE, bright turquoise handmade from wood with a classic leg became the highlight of the interior. Of course, the modern chandelier in brass added shine and expensiveness.

I also placed transparent chairs near the table, so as not to weigh it down but on the contrary to lighten it. Two modern cubes – tables in front of the sofa and ” Voila”, eclecticism was a success! Next was the hall, which became white and elegant with small brown furniture, so as not to overload. The kitchen, where I chose orange color of the walls. The inspiration again were the tiled roofs of the houses, a new chandelier made of material in the form of straw, a boho-style carpet and plus black elements such as the handles in the kitchen and a bar stool.

The bathroom is especially elegant and sophisticated. Pale blue mosaic combined with satin gold looks gorgeous I also made a shower cabin to order, as I value individuality. Replacing all the toilet fittings with gold and closing it with a custom-made cabinet for the boiler completed my hotel bathroom.

Well, and the bedroom: gentle, feminine, noble. Here you will see everything for yourself. Fabrics with beautiful patterns, a natural wooden desk, a pink velour bench under the window, a white reading chair, a soft rug for the feet – it’s all about “what a woman wants”.

Renovate your apartment, renovate your life. This has become my little motto!
